Balancing Barn, Suffolk

I’ve just returned from a surreal weekend at the Balancing Barn, a project by Living Architecture – my new favourite company in the world.

Architects: MVRDV

Interiors: Studio Makkink & Bey

SWING!

Utrecht Chairs!

Glass floor!

How many design pieces can you fit in one room?!

Not only was the house a museum of design and architecture, it was also chock full of fantastic books!  How many times have we all stayed in a villa where the reading material on hand was a choice of Twilight or John Grisham?  Not here, oh no! The School of Life donates most of the books which range from architecture coffee table tomes to Suffolk dialect reference and philosophy books. The School of Life, as it happens, also hosts weekend reading retreats here.
