Folklore in Islington is one of those shops that is so beautifully and thoughtfully curated that merely stepping through the door makes one feel as though everything will be okay, perhaps even that the world peace is nigh.
The aesthetic is clean, simple and Scandi with an ethical sensibility. Danielle and Rob (the owners) believe that good design and sustainability are intrinsically linked. 15% of the shop’s profits are donated to Shanti Microfinance, a non-profit that promotes entrepreneurship and sustainability in India. They are also careful to recycle their waste, keep packaging to a minimum and use sustainable transport. Blimey!
Bonus points for stocking Megan’s current favourite read, Kinfolk.

I couldn’t possibly be more in love with this table…”unique leather topped tables with solid wood bases that feature an intricate wax-thread brogue detail”. Yes, please.

I am absolutely crazy for these “Thin Black Lines” cubic side tables. The profile is amazing and they seem to defy gravity. Nendo has done some other pieces in the Thin Black Line style as well. At one point the Thin Black Line chair was featured at the V&A in London. Have a gander…
I’ve also included a few pieces from Etsy that follow the thin black line aesthetic.
