About The Colonies

Founded by Megan Forde and Jessica Gething, two American ex-pats in England, The Colonies is a lifestyle blop (blog and shop) with the aim of establishing a venue for quirky, original, American style in London and the UK.

Jessica Gething is an Interior Designer who completed her studies at The Interior Design School in London. Her interest in design and visual arts began with a career in International Brand Marketing for some of the world’s most well-known and loved brands. Her desire to create and an interest in interiors naturally led her to Interior Design.  Jessica is drawn to creative spaces where artwork, texture and colour are integral.

Megan Forde is a stylist and a collector of curios. It is from her fascination with lovely things that Megan’s interest in beautiful spaces blossomed. She is passionate that interiors, as well as the objects they contain, speak about, and to, the people occupying them. It is with this enthusiasm that she runs The Colonies’ shop with Jessica and it is what inspires her styling and shop selections. Her experience ranges from domestic interior styling to television set styling, including assisting the renowned designer Abigail Ahern on the set of How to Cook Like Heston.

In addition to the blog, The Colonies also has a presence on Etsy - where the many vintage treasures we find online, at car boot sales, auctions and flea markets – are sold.  We are currently working on building a platform to sell our wares directly from The Colonies’ website.

What do you think of this web-site – they take retro pieces of furniture and up-cycle them with designs from famous UK graffiti/URBAN artists like Andrew McAttee. I havent seen anything like this before?
